Out Of This World Amazing Pliqué A Jour Enamel Pendant 18K Gold 1910s
I’m proud to offer you this extraordinary, antique 18K gold Jesus pendant with plique-a-jour enamel.
Plique-à-jour (French for "letting in daylight") is a vitreous enamelling technique where the enamel is applied in cells, similar to cloisonné, but with no backing in the final product, so that light can shine through the transparent enamel. It’s a miniature version of stained-glass. The technique is very challenging technically, and super time consuming (up to 4 months per item), with a very high failure rate 🌙
This true plique-à-jour masterpiece of a Jesus pendant (dating to the 1910s Art Noveau / Belle Epoque era) is heavy on 7.5 grams and she’s 45x32 mm in diameter without bale. The craftsmanship is just amazing! She’s done in 18K solid gold and she’s solid through and through.
The pendant is in excellent condition w minor signs of age and the enamel is intact which is super rare to see.
The pendant holds two rose cut diamonds. The big pear shaped diamond measures 5x4 mm!! It’s just stunning.
All in all this one is just magnificent and it’s actually very hard for me to part with :) But a girl has to eat, you know!
