This is just VERY beautiful, very VERY heavy antique fob pendant on 19 grams (!!!!) of solid 18K gold - to be precise!

The fob measures 1.25 x 1.1 inches and she’s an extremely gorgeous Etruscan revival piece from the beg 1900s.

Etruscan revival jewelry, with its meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail, offers a timeless connection to a bygone era. Inspired by the Etruscans, who flourished in Italy from the 8th to the 3rd century BC, this revival began to gain prominence in the 19th century. The Victorians just adored this style and you can find numerous antique pieces in this style.

The style is characterized by the intricate art of granulation – the fusion of minuscule gold beads into elaborate patterns – and the use of vivid gemstones such as carnelian, onyx, and turquoise, these pieces transport us to a world that existed over two millennia ago.

This is a particularly interesting and beautiful example of Etruscan revival jewelry. The work is beautiful and the luscious use of yellow sapphire is dreamy.

The sapphires in here are most likely labcreated. They look like citrines with their deep yellow and orange hues but tests as sapphires. Lab created sapphires are just as much a sapphires as earthmined sapphires:

The history of lab grown sapphires began in the late 1800s when the French chemists Auguste Verneuil and Fremy after many years of work finally understood the ruby synthesis.

In 1902, Vernueil realized that fusing powdered alumina and chromium with the oxygen hydrogen torch at 2000 degrees Celsius would produce small particles of synthetic ruby. Next he was capable of creating synthetic ruby in a large enough size to use in jewelry.

Sapphires took him about 8 more years to figure out but in 1909, Vernueil discovered that synthetic sapphires could be created with the addition of iron and titanium.

Over the next twenty years, the methods evolved and grew so popular, that synthetic stones found their way into even the finest of jewelers in the 1920s. Synthetic rubies and sapphires were EVERYWHERE!

The stones are referred to as “synthetic,” but lab-created gemstones are in fact totally real and genuine; just man-made instead of mined from the earth. Lab gemstones are chemically, physically and optically identical to their natural counterparts. They come from the same recipe as those found underground.

You can this magical fob as a pendant - she looks amazing both on a regular chain or in a large bolt clasp of the kind you find on antique watch chains

The fob has very intricate gold work all over and the craftmanship is just so immaculate and beautiful. This one has taking hours and hours for the goldsmith to complete.

The pendant dates to the beg of the 1900s England. It has no stamps and has been tested to verify carat.
