Antique Blue Topaz Ring Size 6 US 18K Gold Sweden 1922

I'm so excited about this one - a 104 year old ring with a big cornflower blue topaz held high in the prettiest buttercup setting, made in Kristianstad, Sweden in 1922. She has so much depth - you can look straight down into that blue and keep falling. Against the warm gold it is the kind of color pairing that never, ever goes out of style.

Look at how she is set: a classic buttercup setting, where curved golden petals cup the stone like the flower she is named after, lifting her right up into the light so she sparkles from every angle. The buttercup was the great romance of late Victorian and Edwardian setting work, and this ring carries it straight into the 1920s. Original buttercups from the setting's own era, with hand cut petals and full hallmarks, are what collectors hunt for - I have written the whole story here: What Is a Buttercup Setting?

She carries her full suite of Swedish hallmarks inside the band - maker, city and the date letter for 1922. If you love decoding those little stamps as much as I do, you can read every Swedish mark at The Hallmark Society.

The band is smooth and tapered, wonderfully comfortable - she weighs around 5.5 grams and fits like a size 6 US.

Excellent condition with minor signs of age.
