Dreamy Amethyst Cabochon Ring Size 8.75 US 18K Gold Stockholm 1954

There is something about an amethyst cabochon that a faceted stone can never quite do - that deep, sleepy violet glow, like the stone is lit from somewhere inside.

This one comes with a proper pedigree: made in Stockholm in 1954 by one of the fine Swedish workshops of the era, and she carries her full suite of Swedish hallmarks - the maker's mark, the cat's paw control mark, 18K and the date letter D9. The setting is the sweetest sculptural goldwork: a smooth bezel of buttery 18K gold with little scrolled hearts curling up the shoulders.

Amethyst has been loved for centuries as the stone of calm and clear thinking - the kind of ring you reach for on the days that ask a little more of you.
