Gorgeous Vintage 18K Gold Pendant with Big Blue Spinel, Mid Century
She is the only pendant you will need. A big, elongated lab-created spinel in the dreamiest blue - step-cut, so she glows in long, clean flashes, somewhere between sky and deep water depending on the light. She is crowned with a sculpted 18K gold top, little leaves and scrolls curling around her bail, mid-20th century through and through.
I normally sell natural spinels - but when I met her, I could not leave her behind. She is at least as beautiful as her natural sisters, and with the naked eye it is impossible to tell the difference. What you see is simply that glorious blue. I have written all about lab-created stones in vintage jewelry - they have been made since 1902 and can be antiques in their own right - here: Lab-Created Sapphires in Antique Jewelry.
The pendant measures around 4.5 cm (around 1.75 inches) in length - big enough to carry an entire neckline on her own. She comes without a chain, but the dainty 18K box chain she is photographed on - around 15 inches - is in the shop as her own listing, if you want them together: Gorgeous Dainty Vintage 18K Gold Box Chain.
She is in excellent condition with normal signs of age.
