Wedgwood's famous blue, signed and dated. This piece carries an oval of true Wedgwood jasperware - the powder-blue stoneware with a white classical relief that England has loved since the 1700s - impressed on the back WEDGWOOD MADE IN ENGLAND and dated 1954. I have written all about Wedgwood, the jasperware technique and how to date the pieces here: Wedgwood Jasperware in Jewelry.

The sterling silver rope-twist frame is handmade in Denmark - a lovely little meeting between English jasperware and Danish silversmithing. She is both pendant and brooch: a bail for a chain or a ribbon, and a pin on the back, so she can sit at your neck one day and on a lapel the next. She comes on a simple cream-coloured ribbon to tie, just as she is photographed - ready to wear the moment she arrives.

She measures around 65 mm in height. She will be freshly cleaned before she ships, and she is in excellent condition with no signs of age to the front.
